A lot of what we go through in life is a cake walk, we need limited skill. It’s easy. Other experiences are tall orders. They require effort, space to breathe and unfold. They are challenging. Growth is a tall order. Before you can move forward with your life, you should evaluate your order. Make sure that you’re working with what you have before you add more on.
Think of life as a meal. Do you fill up your plate and then grab a second plate to pile on more before you finish the first? If it’s buffet style, maybe but even that way of life isn’t serving your highest good.
How can you expect to accomplish MORE, when you haven’t tied up the loose ends of what is currently happening?
Before you bite off more, you have to stop.
You know my thoughts about reflection. If you missed that one, you can check it out right here. Stopping and slowing down go hand in hand with reflection.Below are some crucial tips to consider before heading into the new year:
Stop creating 12-month goals. Break down goals into smaller chunks that are manageable for you. Only you know what works for you so experiment with a time frame that feels good and then build off of that. I like 21 day or 30 day goals.
Stop acting like who you think you are and start becoming who you want to be. Your beliefs about life and yourself have been optimized and strengthened your whole life. What you believe and feel about yourself have most likely been ingrained in your brain for a very long time. That’s why growth is hard. It’s tough to teach an old dog new tricks. It’s tough but not impossible. All you have to do is think greater than how you feel. Notice your patterns, routines, habits, and triggers. They are insight into transformation.
Stop playing small and dream bigger. You are meant for greatness. You are the only one holding yourself back. You know all those things you dream about doing? Start doing them! The odds that you’re in existence are unfathomable. Seriously go ahead and google it. You need to start believing in the miracle that you are.
Stop overthinking. Free yourself. When you overthink, you give your mind more control over your life instead of a very powerful tool- YOUR HEART. Your heart is your lifeline to happiness and that is exactly what you need to be following and listening to day in and day out.
Stop fearing change. Be happy. It’s so simple yet not as easy. If you break down your life into all the choices you make per day, how many of them do you your highest good and overall happiness into consideration? Live your life to feel good but make sure you feel good past the fear and comfort.
Stop living in the past. Love all that you have now. You cannot change what has happened to you but you can appreciate all that you have right now. You can love and appreciate all that is in your existence and plan for a better tomorrow. Let go for the simple fact that it is heavy.
Stop negativity. Drown in negativity or let positivity lift your life. Every day you choose which one you feed and boy, do those babies grow fast, either way you go. Just stop. Notice how you speak to yourself, the thoughts you think and who you surround yourself with. Like attracts like. Positive experiences will show up the more positive you are and vice versa.
Stop trying to please everyone and please yourself. Read this to yourself…”Thank you for staying by my side even when I tried to push you away.” We sometimes turn on ourselves in times of stress and worry. It is during those times that it’s so important to honor yourself and your feelings. You need your love and attention as much as anyone else. It’s your duty to put yourself on the top of your to-do list every single day. If you aren’t happy with who you are or where you are today then ask yourself who you want to be. Decide on who you want to become and make choices as if you are already that person. This next moment is your new beginning! Did you hear me? YOUR NEW BEGINNING. That means it’s yours to choose what you want and how you want to feel. You are the author of your own life, so keep your pen to yourself!
The above are practices that take time. If you want more for your life then stand your ground. Take that tall order and crush it. You have the ability to do just that. You are a miracle and meant for greatness. It’s often your greatest power to realize what’s no longer working and start there. If you can say to yourself, “I don’t know what I want, but it isn’t this,” you have a great advantage.
Let go and be free. Love and appreciate what you have. Explore and be curious on what fills you with joy. Be strategic and live life smarter not harder.
Everything that you could ever want is one decision away. Your adventure awaits.
